About Paul
Broadway Co-Producer
Paul Gavriani is a Broadway co-producer, Tony voter and Broadway League member whose involvement with theater spans more than two decades. His experience has included investing in productions, raising capital, working directly with investors, attending readings and developmental workshops, and following projects through rehearsal, production and opening night.
His search for new work is not limited to New York. Paul also travels internationally to see productions, workshops and emerging theatrical work that might have a future on Broadway, looking particularly for projects where artistic distinction and commercial potential can reinforce one another.
His path to Broadway has been unusually broad. Paul has worked professionally in architecture, urban planning, international development and New York real estate, with earlier experience that included the World Bank, major architecture and planning firms, Dodger Theatricals and Broadway.com. That combination of creative, analytical and commercial experience continues to shape the way he approaches theatrical work.
His academic background is equally varied. Paul earned a Bachelor of Arts from Berklee College of Music, a Master of City Planning from MIT, a Master of Liberal Arts from Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science from Syracuse University. He also pursued graduate study in architecture at Boston Architectural College and studied urban design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. His theater training includes the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop and the Commercial Theater Institute.
Outside the theater, Paul has spent more than two decades in New York real estate and is currently with Sotheby’s International Realty, working in the Manhattan luxury residential market. He divides his time between Manhattan’s Theater District, where Broadway is quite literally part of daily life, and East Hampton, where weekends often find him working on landscape and garden design.
Travel and endurance sports are another major part of his life. Paul has completed 190 marathons across all 50 states, all seven continents and 114 countries.
For Paul, these interests are not separate compartments. Music, architecture, cities, travel, design and theater all involve understanding how people experience a place, a story or an idea. Broadway is where many of those threads come together, and being part of bringing distinctive new work to the stage remains one of the most rewarding parts of his life.
